On September 25, 2025, researchers gathered for the 3rd Epiphyte Symposium: Challenges of the Canopy and Transformed Landscapes, an event dedicated to discussing the latest advances, challenges, and perspectives in epiphyte research. The symposium streamed on YouTube, providing knowledge exchange, collaboration, and dialogue on the conservation of these vital plants within changing ecosystems.

During the IX Ecological Mexican Congress, on the 10th of October, Thorsten Krormer and Derio Antonio Jiménez López, members of the EpIG consortium, organised the symposium: "Challenges to be faced in the ecology and conservation of epiphytic plants in Mexico" ("Retos por afrontar en la ecología y conservación de plantas epífitas en México"). - 18/05/2021: II Foro Diverisdad, Ecología y Conservación de plantas epífitas (Organized by CITRO).
- 28/07/2020: II CIOBE 2020, Congreso Internacional en Orquídeas, Biodiversidad & Educación.
- 29/01/2020: Journal of Vegetation Science accepted our paper "EpIG-DB: A database of vascular epiphyte assemblages in the Neotropics" for publication.
- 11-14/03/2019: The first version of the EpIG was launched at the Macroecology conference in Würzburg, Germany.
- 13/12/2018: The new version of TurboVeg, adapted to Epiphytes, is ready! Collaborators can now upload their data to come up with EpIG 1.0.
